Reducing the electric bill by 20 cents per square foot might not sound like a lot, but at the RRBITC, it results in more than $600,000 a year in electricity savings. That’s why Johnson Controls replaced the existing fluorescent fixtures with new LED lighting, a GSA Green Proving Ground technology. With more than 48,000 fixtures and 1,700 sensors making sure the lights turn off when no one is around, the new LED lighting is not only more energy efficient, it also lasts longer, requires less maintenance and provides better distribution and quality of light.
